2023 Atlanta Fall Advance – Freedom in Christ
“Freedom in Christ” was the theme of this weekend-long Advance held outside of Atlanta, Georgia with the theme verse being Galatians 5:1, “Stand fast therefore in the liberty wherewith Christ hath made us free, and be not entangled again with the yoke of bondage.” We learned about what Christ accomplished for us and because of that we can walk in true spiritual freedom. As we accept the liberty that we have in Christ, we can then put our focus on our commitment to service and outreach; this privilege to serve and speak the Word helps others to be able to enjoy the same incredible freedom that we have.

Searching for the Christ
Searching for the Christ breaks the Bible into its major stories and topics, considering each one in light of the overall theme – that Jesus Christ is the subject of the written Word from Genesis to Revelation. In addition to taking the reader (designed to be teens through adults) through the records, there are many notes along the way explaining the text in more detail and how it fits in the overall picture and pointing out lessons that can be learned from them. At the end of each chapter the biblical records covered or referred to are cited, encouraging the reader to read the Scriptures for themselves. Although the book can serve as a reader’s companion to the Bible and a study tool, it’s primary purpose, as stated by the author, is to “make sense of the Scriptures, …increase your respect for and belief in God, …appreciate the significance of the life of Jesus Christ more than ever before, …help you to understand and believe more of what God says about you in His Word, …and inspire you to treat others with greater love and compassion.”
