If a marriage is an example of The Mystery, then grace and peace have to be in the marriage. We see from this teaching God’s grace in the Church and how we as individuals can give that grace to our spouses. When we better understand that grace of God extended to us, it can help us extend that grace to others. We are shown examples of God’s grace in the Word, including the grace in Paul’s life. It also shows how grace and peace go together, so if we extend grace, we’ll see a lot more peace. We are to be imitators of God. He extends grace because He loves, and that’s the greatest motivation to extend grace, because you love. We haven’t earned anything, but God gives us grace.

This teaching looks at being slow to anger, what can cause anger, the effects that anger can have on your spouse, and how being forgiving and thankful can replace anger. We are shown how we should think before we speak in order to say the right words which will bless, build up, and meet needs of your spouse. The teaching also covers the importance of listening to what someone has to say in order to take care of them, and we are shown records of times where God listened to people that had needs then helped and encouraged them.

This teaching traces an example of a married couple in God’s Word, Aquila and Priscilla. This couple was able to bless a great number of people and had a significant impact on the movement of God’s Word due to their love and commitment. We trace their initial introduction to Paul through how they supported and helped him in his ministry, arranging their lives to go wherever God needed them to go. This husband-and-wife team provides a great example of love, service, and leadership for all married couples.
