Description
Any good atlas is known for its maps. The Oxford Bible Atlas has twenty-seven full-color maps and eighty-one color illustrations, all updated with the most recent discoveries in archaeology and topography. In addition, though, it traces the history of the people’s in the Bible through different historical periods, helping to bring the different regions and groups to life. The Atlas covers everything from Genesis to the stories of David and Solomon, the trade routes of the ancient world, the vast empires of Alexander the Great and Rome, and the ministry of Jesus Christ and the formation of the first-century Church. It describes the major civilizations with which Israelites, Jews, and early Christians came into contact. There is also an illustrated survey of the relevance of archaeology for the study of the Bible. Finally, the book includes a full chronology, suggestions for further reading, and an index of place names to be able to find any place mentioned in the Bible on the maps.
